INTERMEZZO
Born in Singapore, Joshua Tan grew up playing the violin and was accepted into the Singapore National Youth Orchestra at a young age. He began his professional career with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and after a few years, decided to pursue his other passion in conducting.
After graduating from The Julliard School, and winning Second Prize at the prestigious Dimitri Mitropoulos International Music Competition in 2008, he assumed the role of Resident Conductor of the National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra in Beijing. Over the years, he has also conducted the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, Beethoven Bonn Orchestra, St Petersburg State Symphony, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, amongst others.
Joshua is presently Associate Conductor of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra.
